India A’s all-rounder Ayush Badoni left the crowd spellbound with a sensational catch to dismiss United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Muhammad Jawadullah during the Men’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2024 clash on Monday (October 21). His lightning-quick reflexes and athleticism were on full display, adding to India A’s momentum and reinforcing their dominance in the tournament.

Ayush Badoni stuns with a spectacular catch

The standout moment occurred in the 15th over, with Ramandeep Singh delivering a full-length ball around the leg stump to Jawadullah, who attempted a powerful drive towards long-on. As the ball rocketed through the air, Badoni sprinted across the field, closing the gap with remarkable speed. Timing his dive to perfection, he soared through the air and caught the ball with both hands just inches above the ground. It was a jaw-dropping display of skill and precision. This pivotal catch not only ended Jawadullah’s brief innings of 1 run from 2 balls but also sealed UAE’s ninth wicket, further tipping the scales in India A’s favour.

Batting first, UAE struggled to find momentum, managing just 107 runs before being bowled out in 16.5 overs. Opener Rahul Chopra was the only player to offer any significant resistance, scoring a fighting 50 off 50 balls. Unfortunately, he lacked support from the other end as the UAE lineup crumbled under pressure. India A’s Rasikh Salam was the pick of the bowlers, delivering a stellar spell to claim 3/15 in just two overs. Ramandeep also made an impact with the ball, taking 2 wickets, while Vaibhav Arora and Nehal Wadhera chipped in with a wicket each.

In response, India A chased down the target with ease, thanks to Abhishek Sharma‘s explosive 24-ball 58, which included 6 boundaries and 4 massive sixes. Tilak Varma provided stability with his 21, while Badoni added an unbeaten 12, steering India A to victory with 55 balls remaining. The UAE bowlers found it tough to contain the aggressive Indian batting lineup, with Omid Shafi Rahman, Vishnu Sukumaran and Muhammad Farooq picking up one wicket each but unable to prevent the inevitable.
