Young pace sensation Arshdeep Singh was instrumental in India’s fiery start. Opening the bowling, he delivered an outstanding ball to clean up Reeza Hendricks for a duck. The delivery was a textbook example of precision and pace, pitched on middle stump with subtle movement that completely outfoxed the South African opener. Hendricks, attempting a defensive shot, was left stunned as the ball crashed into the stumps, sending the Wanderers crowd into a frenzy.

Arshdeep’s rampage continues

Arshdeep’s brilliance didn’t stop with Hendricks. Returning in the third over, he unleashed another devastating spell, dismissing South African captain Aiden Markram for 8 runs. Markram, looking to stabilize the innings, was undone by a perfect full delivery that breached his defenses.

On the final ball of the same over, Arshdeep trapped Heinrich Klaasen leg-before-wicket with an unplayable delivery. Klaasen, renowned for his aggressive batting, couldn’t open his account and departed for a golden duck. Arshdeep’s double strike in a single over left South Africa reeling at 3/15.

Hardik Pandya adds to the woes

Not to be left behind, all-rounder Hardik Pandya joined the wicket-taking spree in the second over. Pandya dismissed Ryan Rickelton for a mere 1 run, adding another blow to South Africa’s collapsing top order. His disciplined line and length ensured that the Proteas found no breathing room during the powerplay.
