Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2025: LIVE Updates
IPL 2025 mega auction - Day 1 - November 24

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction commenced today at 3:30 PM IST at the Abady Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As the 18th season of the lucrative league approaches, all ten franchises are working to refine their squads with the talent available in the bidding process.

A total of 577 players are up for grabs, including 12 marquee players split into two sets, who will be the first to go under the hammer. This will be followed by the auction of other capped and uncapped players.

Notably, on the morning of the first day of mega auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a detailed timeline and guidelines outlining the proceedings across the two days. A notable guideline highlights the value of a raised bid when utilizing the Right to Match (RTM) option, emphasizing its impact on the auction dynamics. Further, the first 12 sets, featuring a total of 84 players, will go under the hammer on Sunday.

The BCCI has also specified the bidding increments as follows:

  • For bids between ₹0 and ₹1 crore: ₹5 lakh
  • For bids between ₹1 crore and ₹2 crore: ₹10 lakh
  • For bids between ₹2 crore and ₹5 crore: ₹20 lakh
  • For bids above ₹5 crore: ₹25 lakh

For instance, if the base price is ₹1.25 crore, the next bid will be ₹1.3 crore.

The auction will proceed as follows: Marquee Lots will be up first, followed by a lunch break. Next, Capped Batters, All-Rounders, and Wicketkeepers will go under the hammer, followed by a 15-minute break. Capped Bowlers will then be auctioned, followed by another 10-minute break. The final session of Day 1 will feature the first Uncapped Players set, consisting of seven players.
