India’s rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal had a remarkable outing in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at Optus Stadium, Perth. The young batter delivered a scintillating performance, smashing a breathtaking century and amassing 161 runs. Alongside his exceptional batting, Jaiswal also showcased his fearless attitude, engaging in verbal battles with Australian bowlers.

One such incident that caught the attention of fans and commentators involved Jaiswal and Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc. Jaiswal not only punished Starc with four boundaries and a six but also cheekily sledged him, quipping that the Australian was “bowling too slow.”

Ahead of the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide, Starc addressed the much-talked-about incident. The seasoned pacer revealed that he didn’t hear Jaiswal’s sledge during the game.

“I didn’t hear what he said. I won’t know too much these days. I may have back in the day. He played that flick shot on a pretty similar ball that he defended earlier,” Starc said in a video shared by Cricket Australia.

Despite the banter, Starc acknowledged Jaiswal’s impressive performance in the second innings, praising the youngster’s adaptability and skill.

“He will play a lot of cricket for India and will be highly successful. He played really, really well in the second innings, and he adapted to the conditions. Obviously, we got him out cheap in the first innings. He then adapted to the conditions and played a fantastic innings,” Starc added further.
