Kambli said that he is feeling better now, crediting his wife Andrea Hewitt for her unwavering support. She took her husband to three hospitals, urging him to prioritize his health. His son, Jesus Christiano, helped him when he collapsed, and his daughter Johanna stood by him throughout. A doctor advised him to get admitted for treatment.

“I am better now. My wife takes care of me a lot. She took me to three different hospitals and told me, ‘You have to get fit.’ My son picked me up when I collapsed, and my daughter and wife stood by me throughout. The doctor told me to get admitted”, Kambli said in an interview with Vicky Lalwani on his Youtube channel.

Kambli also expressed his readiness to go to rehab, stating he has no fear and feels supported by his family. “I’m ready to go to rehab. I want to go there because I don’t fear anything. My family is with me,” he added.

Reflecting on Kambli’s lifelong friendship with Sachin Tendulkar

Kambli reflected on his childhood friend Sachin, admitting that he initially felt frustrated in 2009, believing Sachin hadn’t supported him during his struggles. However, he later realized his frustration was misplaced and acknowledged Sachin’s significant support, including funding his two surgeries in 2013. Their conversation helped rekindle their cherished childhood friendship.

“At that time, it came to my mind that Sachin didn’t help. I was extremely frustrated. But Sachin did everything for me, including paying for my two surgeries in 2013. We spoke, and childhood friendship came forward,” the left-handed batter concluded.

The duo’s bond, forged during their school days, has long been celebrated in cricketing folklore. Together, they made history with their extraordinary 664-run partnership in a school match, a record that still resonates in the world of cricket.
