Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Mithali Raj & Co. in Delhi on Thursday.
He felicitated each of the team members for their brilliant performance in the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, where women in blue managed to reach the final before losing a close game against England.
Smriti Mandhana who scored a century against England in the group stage got some words of praise from PM Modi.
While praising Smriti, the Prime Minister on Twitter wrote, “Met @mandhana_smriti. This remarkable player overcame an injury & played the WC. Her innings against England at Derby was stupendous.”

Mandhana, who is not very much active on the micro-blogging site, replied to PM Modi’s tweet beautifully just like her back-foot punch.
“Thank You @narendramodi Sir, It was an honour to meet you. You inspire us all with your service for the nation!”, the 20-year-old opener wrote.
