Rishabh Pant, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter of the Indian cricket team, recently engaged with fans during a Q&A session on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). This interaction not only showcased his personality but also offered insights into his thoughts on cricketing legends and future tournaments. Among the topics discussed were predictions for the upcoming Ashes series, comparisons between iconic Indian batters and his views on Jasprit Bumrah.

Rishabh Pant’s prediction for the Ashes 2025

When former England captain Michael Vaughan inquired about Pant’s prediction for the 2025-26 Ashes winner, Pant took to X and responded with a diplomatic yet insightful remark: “The team which will play better cricket will win“. This statement reflected Pant’s understanding of the unpredictable nature of cricket, where performance on the day can often determine outcomes. The Ashes, a storied rivalry between England and Australia, is known for its intensity and unpredictability, making Pant’s prediction both cautious and realistic.

Pant’s respect for Indian batting icons

In another question, Pant was asked to choose his favourite shot among three iconic strokes: Sachin Tendulkar‘s straight drive, Virat Kohli‘s cover drive, and Rohit Sharma‘s pull shot. Rather than selecting one over the others, Pant expressed admiration for all three shots equally.

He stated, “Sachin paaji’s straight drive, Virat bhai’s cover drive, and Rohit bhai’s pull shot. All 3” . This response highlighted Pant’s appreciation for the artistry involved in batting and acknowledges the unique qualities each player brings to the game.

The Pant description for Jasprit Bumrah

When asked to describe Bumrah in one word, Pant did not hesitate to call him the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time), accompanied by a goat emoji. This succinct description underscores Bumrah’s impact on the game as a premier fast bowler. His ability to deliver under pressure and consistently perform at high levels has earned him accolades from peers and fans alike. Pant’s endorsement of Bumrah as the GOAT reflects not only his respect for Bumrah’s skills but also the camaraderie among teammates who recognize each other’s contributions.

Pant to bounce back in form for India

Following a challenging series against Australia in which India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3, Pant is set to make a return to competitive cricket. He confirmed his availability for Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, marking his first appearance in this tournament since the 2017-18 season. Despite not being selected for India’s T20I squad against England due to competition from in-form players like Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, there are expectations that he will be included in the ODI lineup.

India face a busy schedule ahead with T20Is and ODIs against England followed by participation in the Champions Trophy 2025. As one of India’s key players, Pant’s return is highly anticipated by fans and selectors alike. His experience and explosive batting style will be crucial as India aim to reclaim its dominance in international cricket.
