Shikhar Dhawan reveals why he is called Gabbar by teammates and fans

The very first thing which strikes in our mind when we listen to the word ‘Gabbar’ is the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Sholay’ and Amjad Khan as Gabbar.

And now, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan revealed how he got the nickname ‘Gabbar’ from his team-mates.

In the second episode of standup comedian and cricket humorist Vikram Sathaye‘s digital premium show, ‘What The Duck 2’, Dhawan was asked about the story behind his nickname.

Answering to it, the southpaw said, “I used to stand at silly-point in Ranji Trophy matches and when the opposition gets big partnership, my team get down and I used to shout ‘Bahut Yarana Lagtha Hai’ (A famous dialogue in Sholay movie which was used by Gabbar (Amjad Khan) in the movie).”

Shikhar has been lovingly referred to by that name since that incident. He further opened when asked about the precious thing we can find out in his wallet, he quickly replied saying that it is him and his wife Ayesha‘s photograph and answered AB De Villiers when asked about his favourite batsman to watch in the game of cricket.
