The young Blackcaps sensation was bestowed this award after she defeated South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu and Australia’s Annabel Sutherland to win the prized possession of global cricket. The emphatic Indian batter is the only 3rd player along with Ellyse Perry and Nat Sciver-Brunt to have won the title more than once. Mandhana scored 855 runs in 22 international matches across all formats in 2021 to bag the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award. Her record was even more impressive in the year 2018 when she pulled 669 runs in ODIs and 622 runs in T20Is.

Amelia Kerr: The rising New Zealand star

New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr has been named the recipient of the prestigious Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for 2024, solidifying her status as the standout player of the year. The 24-year-old saved her finest performance for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, where she top-scored with 43 runs off 38 balls, outshining both teams in the decisive match. Kerr’s composed innings anchored New Zealand’s total, as she arrived at the crease in the second over and remained until the penultimate, playing a crucial role in guiding the blackcaps to a match-winning score of 158/5.

Throughout the year, Kerr’s all-round contributions were evident, particularly in One Day Internationals, where she accumulated 264 runs at an average of 33 and claimed 14 wickets across nine matches. However, it was in T20 Internationals where Kerr truly shone, earning her the Cricketer of the Year award. In 18 T20Is in 2024, she racked up an impressive 387 runs at an average of 24.18, while also setting a national record by taking 29 wickets in a single calendar year.
