Pakistan’s spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan has come forward to defend his fellow teammates amid criticism over claims that they text actresses on social media.

Shadab Khan responds to the claim made by female Pakistan actors

Speaking on Geo News show ‘Hasna Mana Hai’, Shadab argued that cricketers often face undue backlash, emphasizing that actresses also show interest in engaging with them.

When asked by a fan, “Most female actors claim that cricketers send messages to them on social media, so have you ever messaged any actors?” Shadab responded candidly, “Even if cricketers send messages, what is wrong with that?” He further explained that social media platforms provide options like blocking or ignoring messages if the recipient is uninterested. “There are also replies from actors, and they appear to show interest as well-as if they want to talk,” he added.

Shadab believes that such incidents are often blown out of proportion to attract attention, especially during high-profile events like World Cups. “We have seen some videos in which things are exaggerated, but it doesn’t turn out like that. Some actors do it for fame,” he stated. The 26-year-old also revealed that players discuss these matters among themselves, acknowledging the challenges of navigating public scrutiny.

Actress Nawal Saeed’s concerns highlight the debate

The controversy gained traction after Pakistani actress Nawal Saeed voiced her concerns  about receiving inappropriate messages from national team cricketers. Speaking on Momin Saqib’s chat show ‘Had Kar Di,’ Saeed expressed her disappointment, stating, “I can’t wrap my head around the fact that you are representing Pakistan. These are verified accounts with the blue tick on your handles; how can you randomly send messages and compliments to a girl?”

Saeed, a model-turned-actress, emphasized the need for maintaining respectful boundaries in professional interactions. “This is not how it should be,” she added, sparking a broader conversation about the behaviour of public figures on social media.
