As the action of the International League T20 (ILT20) reached its final leg the fixtures emerged to be more exciting with intensity at its peak. The players have started delivering stunning performances one after the other in order to ensure their respective sides reach the all-important play-offs. Something of a similar sort happened during the clash between Desert Vipers and Dubai Capitals where Gulbadin Naib took a breathtaking catch to dismiss Azam Khan and apply early pressure on the Vipers at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Azam Khan’s disappointing display with the bat continues
The incident occurred during the very first bowl of the 2nd over of the Vipers innings after they were invited to bat by the Capitals. Obed McCoy the ace pacer for Capitals, bowled a lethal back of the length delivery which took an edge off Azam’s bat and went straight to Naib in the slips who dived to his right to take a remarkable match on the very first ball of McCoy’s spell.
An early dismissal proved detrimental for the Vipers innings as Azam failed to provide a solid start to his team once again. The early setback forced the Vipers batting order to adjust to the changed dynamic and play steadily in order to avoid consecutive fall of wickets.

Capitals outperformed Vipers to win the match
Even though Alex Hales and Dan Lawrence made a valiant partnership between them to stabilize their team’s innings, the determined effort from Capitals from the bowl proved out to be too much for the Vipers batters. The home side could only add a total of 137 runs in 19.4 overs before being bowled out by the Capitals bowling unit. A 44-run knock from Lawrence and a contribution of 28 runs from Sam Curran were the highlight of the Vipers innings. Qais Ahmed and McCoy were the star for Capitals with the ball as they clinched 4 and 3 wickets respectively for the visitors.
In response, Capitals managed to achieve the total in 17.1 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket. Naib played an instrumental knock of 55 runs off 31 balls and Shai Hope supported his Afghan teammate with a 52-run knock off 54 balls. Both these batters ensured the team sailed through the run-chase and paved the way for a Capitals triumph by 9 wickets.
