Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had registered a protest to the International Cricket Board (ICC) because of what it perceives as another moment of deliberate attempt to mix politics in sports. The ICC has shared some interesting thoughts with the PCB on the whole incident.
PCB furious over omission of Pakistan’s name during the broadcast
PCB has sought an explanation from the ICC regarding the omission of Pakistan’s name from the Champions Trophy branding during the live broadcast of the match between India and Bangladesh in Dubai. Despite being the host nation, Pakistan‘s name was conspicuously absent from the logo displayed in the top left corner of the broadcast, which only featured the event’s name, “Champions Trophy 2025,” for the entire duration of the match. PCB is understood to be aggrieved at the situation and asked for assurances it will not happen again.

ICC explains its version of events to PCB
The ICC has informally told PCB that the omission of Pakistan’s name from the Champions Trophy logo during the India-Bangladesh match was a technical error. However, the PCB remains dissatisfied with this explanation. Graphics for the live feed, produced by the UK-based Sunset & Vine under ICC supervision, are prepared in advance, and the fact that Pakistan’s name appeared on the logo for the opening game of the tournament has left the PCB unconvinced about why the issue occurred during the Bangladesh-India match.
The ICC has reiterated that the incident was caused by a technical glitch and assured the PCB that this issue will not affect any future games, whether played in Pakistan or the UAE. The next match in the UAE, set to be the tournament’s most watched, will feature India facing the official hosts, Pakistan, in Dubai on Sunday.
India won the match against Bangladesh in contention here by 6 wickets in a splendid display of their ability to dominate teams with the bat and the bowl. During the match, Bangladesh put together a total of 228 runs which the Indian team managed to achieve with relative ease due to a brilliant century from Shubman Gill and contributions from KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma.
