Cricket Australia have unveiled their 14-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20I tour of New Zealand, scheduled to take place from March 21 to March 26, 2025. The women’s squad squad includes a notable debutant, Nicole Faltum, who has been called up as wicketkeeping cover for Beth Mooney. This maiden call-up marks a significant milestone for Faltum, who will join the team in the absence of injured captain Alyssa Healy.

Alyssa Healy’s injury

Healy, the regular captain and one of Australia’s most prolific batters, has been ruled out of the tour due to injury. Despite her absence, Cricket Australia remains optimistic about her participation in the ODI World Cup later this year. Healy’s injury has opened up opportunities for other players to step up and showcase their skills, with Faltum being a prime example.

Nicole Faltum’s maiden call-up

Faltum’s inclusion in the squad is a significant development for Australian women’s cricket. As a talented wicketkeeper-batter, Faltum has been performing well in domestic competitions, earning her a spot in the national team. Her maiden call-up reflects Cricket Australia’s commitment to nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for players to grow at the international level.

The Australian squad for the New Zealand tour features a mix of experienced players and newcomers. Key players include Tahlia McGrath, who will fulfill the captaincy duties in Healy’s absence, and Darcie Brown, who has been in impressive form.
