The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) 2025 witnessed an electrifying final as Punjab De Sher ended their decade-long title drought with a commanding victory over Chennai Rhinos. The high-octane clash took place on March 2, 2025, at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Ground in Mysuru, India, marking the culmination of the league’s 11th season.

CCL, a widely popular exhibition tournament, brings together film stars from different regional cinemas of India, allowing them to showcase their cricketing prowess. Over the years, it has garnered immense fan following, blending entertainment with competitive cricket.

Punjab De Sher clinch first-ever CCL title

The final followed the CCL’s unique format, where each team plays two innings of 10 overs, creating a Test match-like approach within the T20 framework. Chennai Rhinos, known for their past triumphs, looked strong but failed to capitalize on crucial moments, allowing Punjab De Sher to take full control.

In the first innings, Chennai Rhinos posted 89/5 in 10 overs, with their batters struggling against Punjab’s disciplined bowling attack. Punjab De Sher responded in dominant fashion, scoring 103/1 in 10 overs, securing a crucial first-innings lead.

Under pressure to set a competitive target, Chennai managed only 85/6 in their second innings, leaving Punjab with a chase of 72 runs. Riding on their momentum, Punjab comfortably reached the target in just 8 overs, with 8 wickets in hand, etching their name in CCL history.

The victory was particularly significant for team captain and popular Punjabi singer Harrdy Sandhu, who has been leading Punjab De Sher with passion and determination over the years. The triumph not only marked Punjab’s maiden CCL title but also established them as a dominant force in the league.
