Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera scripted history by smashing six consecutive sixes in an over during the Asian Legends League 2025. This remarkable feat occurred in the Eliminator match between the Sri Lankan Lions and the Afghanistan Pathans at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Udaipur on Saturday.
Thisara Perera’s blistering knock
Perera’s incredible innings was the highlight of the match, as he hammered 108 runs off just 36 balls, including 13 sixes and two fours. His onslaught in the final over, bowled by Afghanistan’s left-arm spinner Ayaan Khan, was particularly memorable. The over began with a wide, but Perera made the most of the opportunity, dispatching the next three deliveries straight into the stands. Despite Ayaan’s attempts to change his angle and outfox Perera, the Sri Lankan continued his assault, hitting the remaining deliveries for sixes as well. The over yielded 39 runs, including three wides, as the Lions posted a formidable total of 230 runs in 20 overs.

This achievement places Perera alongside cricketing legends like Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard, who have also accomplished this rare feat in professional cricket. Notably, this is not Perera’s first time hitting six sixes in an over; he achieved this milestone previously in a List A match for Army Sports Cricket Club in 2021.

Sri Lankan Lions beat Afghanistan Pathans by 26 runs
The Sri Lankan Lions’ innings was bolstered by a significant partnership between Perera and Mevan Fernando, who scored an unbeaten 81 off 56 balls. Their combined efforts set the stage for a challenging chase for the Afghanistan Pathans. Despite a brisk start and a spirited fightback led by Asghar Afghan, who hit three sixes in one over and scored 70 runs from 31 balls, the Pathans fell short, managing only 204/7 and losing the match by 26 runs.
The Asian Legends League 2025, which began on March 10 and concludes on March 18, features five teams: the Afghanistan Pathans, Bangladesh Tigers, Indian Royals, Sri Lankan Lions and the Asian Stars.
