In a high-voltage Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), Phil Salt lit up the powerplay with an explosive 37 off just 17 deliveries, smashing 4 fours and 3 towering sixes. However, just when RCB seemed to be racing ahead, a moment of confusion between the wickets suddenly halted the momentum.. The run-out shifted momentum and left RCB reeling after a strong start.

In the fourth over, Salt nudged a delivery from Axar Patel towards extra cover and immediately called for a single. Kohli at the other end, initially responded but then abruptly stopped and turned back, leaving Salt stranded mid-pitch. In his attempt to return, Salt slipped slightly, losing precious time in the process. Despite a full-length dive, he couldn’t make his ground. The fielder, Vipraj Nigam, released a sharp throw straight to KL Rahul behind the stumps. Rahul, ever alert, whipped the bails off in a flash. It was a textbook example of how miscommunication can lead to disaster. The dismissal was particularly disheartening given the fluency with which Salt was batting. Kohli’s indecision proved costly as it cut short a potentially match-defining knock. As Salt walked back, the RCB dugout looked stunned by the unexpected twist.

Sudden setbacks define the first 6 overs at M. Chinnaswamy for RCB against DC

RCB kicked off aggressively in their clash against DC at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, racing to 64/2 in just 5.6 overs. Salt led the charge with a breathtaking 37 off 17 balls, including 4 boundaries and 3 sixes, setting the early tone. However, a tragic run-out following a mix-up with Kohli halted his explosive knock just when he looked set for a big one. Delhi’s decision to bowl first seemed shaky as RCB hit 50 runs within the first 2.6 overs, aided by 11 extras from DC bowlers. Mitchell Starc and Axar Patel were hammered early, conceding 57 runs in their combined 4 overs without a wicket. The only breakthroughs came through a run-out and a soft dismissal – Devdutt Padikkal departed off for a sluggish 1 (8). Despite the wickets, RCB maintained an impressive run rate of 10.66. Kohli remains unbeaten on 14 not out off 10 balls, joined by skipper Rajat Patidar, who’s yet to score. With power-hitters like Liam Livingstone, Tim David and Jitesh Sharma still to bat, RCB looks on track for a 200+ total – but Delhi’s comeback with the ball can’t be ruled out yet.
