Delhi Capitals extended their winning streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a dominant six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing 164, KL Rahul produced a masterclass, anchoring the innings with a stunning unbeaten 93 off 53 balls. Despite early setbacks, Delhi chased down the target with 13 balls to spare, handing RCB their second loss of the season. Rahul’s brilliance overshadowed RCB’s powerplay surge and Tim David’s late blitz as DC maintained their perfect record in the tournament. Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam starred with the ball, while Tristan Stubbs provided excellent finishing support.
KL Rahul anchors the chase after an early collapse
Delhi’s pursuit of 164 got off to a shaky start as Faf du Plessis, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel fell cheaply, leaving them reeling at 30/3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled with precision, removing two top-order batters. However, Rahul remained calm amidst the chaos, launching a counterattack that shifted the momentum. He first stabilized the innings and then took on the bowlers with calculated aggression. Rahul reached his fifty in 37 balls, mixing elegant drives with effortless sixes. He added 111 unbeaten runs with Tristan Stubbs for the fifth wicket, taking the game away from RCB. Stubbs complemented him with a fluent 38 not out off 23 balls as Delhi sealed victory in just 17.5 overs.

RCB falter despite Tim David’s late fireworks
Earlier, RCB got off to a flying start with Phil Salt smashing 37 off 17, but quick wickets in the powerplay derailed their momentum. Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma couldn’t convert their starts, leaving RCB at 91/4 inside 10 overs. Kuldeep tightened the screws with a brilliant 2/17, while Vipraj impressed with 2/18. Amidst the collapse, David played a blistering cameo of 37 not out off 20 balls, lifting RCB to 163/7. But the total proved below par on a batting-friendly pitch. RCB’s bowlers struggled with poor execution, especially Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal, as DC chased the target with ease and authority.

The last reaction of KL Rahul after finishing his innings said it all. RCB ignored him at the auction despite being a local boy and he just showed them loud and clear: 'I’m here", and I belong to this place. What a statement knock 🥶🔥#KLRahul pic.twitter.com/RBGwMS9yE0

KL Rahul has been questioned 100 times. He has been dropped countless times. He has been trolled. He has been ridiculed.
But when he bats like the way he batted today, you can just stand up, and applause while being in awe of his KLASS!
