Preity Zinta change her team’s name and reveals the new logo

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was in Stellenbosch on Wednesday where she announced plans for her newly-acquired T20 Global League franchise.

Preity was last week confirmed as the new owner of the Stellenbosch Monarchs after South African businessman Mushtaq Brey pulled out at the last minute.

Her first order of business was a name change. Going forward, the franchise will now be known as the Stellenbosch Kings.

The bubbly actress is also the co-owner of IPL franchise, Kings XI Punjab.

The Stellenbosch Kings will be coached by former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming while Faf du Plessis will lead the team.

As the only female owner in the T20 Global League, Preity is clear about putting her own stamp on the brand with a new logo.

“The shield signifies strength and power, the colour red shows passion, and the lion represents the South African fighting spirit.”

“This message is for all the women out there – I hope every South African woman supports the Stellenbosch Kings, no matter what part of the country they live in. Girl power!”, Preity was quoted saying.
