In a recent interview with Shubhankar, actress Nushrratt revealed her deep-rooted love for cricket, calling it more than just a casual interest. “Haan ji, bahut zyada,” she admitted with excitement when asked if she watches cricket. She shared that once she starts watching a match, it becomes all-consuming, so much so that everything else in her life is put on hold. “There are days I tell myself not to turn on the match, because if I do, I forget everything else. I put my entire life on standby. Cricket takes over completely!” she laughed. When the conversation turned to the IPL, Nushrratt confessed to being in a fix.
While she supports Mumbai Indians, she’s a big fan of players from various teams, especially Virat Kohli. “That’s the tricky part. I genuinely find it hard to support just one team. Because I love so many players and the problem is, in IPL, they’re scattered across different teams,” she explained. Using Virat as an example, she said, “I do support Mumbai Indians… but I also love Virat Kohli deeply. So when he plays against Mumbai and smashes a brilliant shot, I’m like, ‘That was amazing… but not against my team!,” This candid admission showcased the typical emotional rollercoaster of a passionate cricket fan torn between favorite teams and beloved players.

When Shubhankar asked her to choose between Kohli and MS Dhoni, Nushrratt surprised everyone by choosing Dhoni. “I would pick MS Dhoni,” she said thoughtfully. “Maybe because when I truly became a cricket fan, Dhoni was at his absolute peak. What a man! Even now in CSK, it feels like he’s still at his peak while others are struggling,”
She gushed about his calm temperament, sharp mind, and exceptional wicketkeeping skills. “When you start knowing a player for who they are not just their stats you start understanding the game differently. Dhoni behind the stumps is unreal. The speed, the accuracy… you know how many batters he’s stumped?,”
With animated excitement, she described watching him in action: “When I’m watching and I feel a batter is getting ambitious. You think a batsman might steal a few steps… and boom, he’s gone. Dhoni doesn’t even give you time to blink,” For Nushrratt, Dhoni isn’t just a cricketer, he’s an icon, a phenomenon she fell in love with when her cricket journey began. Even with her admiration for Kohli, her voice and expressions made it clear: her heart beats yellow whenever Captain Cool steps onto the field.
