The high-stakes encounter, played out at MA Chidambaram Stadium, saw SRH emerge victorious after a hard-fought battle. CSK, defending 154 for victory, lost the match in 18.4 overs, leading to palpable disappointment among their vast fanbase. IPL 2025 playoffs scenario: CSK on verge of elimination after another defeat

Following a disheartening 5-wicket defeat against SRH at their home ground in Chennai on Friday, CSK’s chances of advancing in the IPL 2025 appear slim. Harshal Patel’s impressive four-wicket haul restricted CSK to a modest total of 154 after SRH elected to field. Dewald Brevis’s quickfire 42 and Ayush Mhatre’s breezy 30 offered some resistance for CSK.

However, despite a shaky start to their chase, SRH recovered, courtesy of a crucial unbroken partnership of 49 runs between Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Reddy, securing the victory. This loss has left MS Dhoni’s CSK languishing at the bottom of the league standings with only two wins out of nine matches, having suffered seven defeats and teetering on the edge of elimination from the playoffs-race.
