Nida was recently asked to join the training camp for the World Cup qualifiers in Lahore but declined, citing emotional exhaustion. While she did attend a fitness test, she later withdrew from further team activities, including the national T20 Cup. She was also not the part of Pakistan’s team for the recently concluded ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 qualifiers.
Dar hasn’t played since October 2024, when she featured against New Zealand in Dubai. Additionally, the leadership baton was passed to Fatima Sana before the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, signaling a phase of transition. Nida’s absence from key tournaments further added to the growing speculation around her future. Her decision, while difficult, shines a necessary light on the mental challenges elite athletes face in silence.
