In a dramatic turn of events during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rajat Patidar was run out after a brilliant fielding effort by Karun Nair. Patidar’s dismissal left RCB in a vulnerable position as they struggled to maintain control in the early stages of run chase.

Karun Nair strikes with a perfect throw to dismiss Rajat Patidar

It all started when Virat Kohli, at the non-striker’s end, clipped the ball to midwicket. The pair decided to take a quick single, but Kohli’s call sent Patidar scrambling for his ground. As Patidar dashed forward, Kohli realized that the single was not on, and immediately signaled for him to return. However, Patidar was already halfway down the pitch when the throw came in. In a moment of brilliance, Karun Nair, stationed at midwicket, fired a rocket throw straight at the stumps. The ball hit the target with perfect precision, and Patidar, who was well short of the crease, was left stranded. This direct hit marked another fielding highlight for Nair, who had already taken a superb catch earlier in the match. Patidar’s dismissal, while frustrating for RCB, showcased Nair’s exceptional fielding ability. With RCB now at 26/3, DC’s bowlers and fielders were fully in control, tightening the screws on the opposition.

RCB’s struggle to chase 163 as Delhi Capitals dominate early

In the 46th match of IPL 2025 between Delhi and Bangalore, DC posted a challenging total of 162/8 in their 20 overs. Despite strong contributions from KL Rahul (41), Tristan Stubbs (34), and Abishek Porel (28), RCB’s bowlers kept a tight grip. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal each took a wicket, while Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya also kept the run rate under control. In reply, RCB’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing Jacob Bethell (12), Devdutt Padikkal (0), and Rajat Patidar (6) early on, leaving them struggling at 77/3 after 11.3 overs. Virat Kohli (33 unbeaten) and Krunal Pandya (25 unbeaten) are holding fort, but RCB now needs 86 runs off 51 balls to reach their target, with a required rate of 10.11 runs per over.
