Winning the toss, the Canadian skipper, Navneet Dhaliwal, chose to bat first, hoping for a formidable total. However, the team got a shaky start when both openers departed within the second over with just 2 runs on the board. Then, a 41-run partnership between Yuvraj Samra and Shreyas Movva steadied their ship before Yuvraj got dismissed by Milind Kumar with a wonderful delivery. The wickets kept falling at regular intervals for the Canadian side, but the right-handed batter Jaskaran Singh had different plans. The 35-year-old played a blistering knock of 60 runs in just 26 balls, which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. Eventually, Canada posted a formidable total of 168 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Jasdeep Singh was pick of the bowlers for USA, who claimed 3-wickets for just 22 runs. Also, Milind and Netravalkar claimed 2 wickets each.
Monank Patel plays a masterful knock for USA
In reply, USA too faced early trouble as opener Shayan Jahangir departed for just 2 runs. However, Monank Patel played a brilliant knock of 70 runs in 44 balls which helped his side home. Blending caution with aggression, his array of cover drives and lofted shots kept the scoreboard ticking, while a vital 70-run partnership with Saiteja Mukkamalla steadied the chase. Meanwhile, Canada too tried their best, the brilliant spells of Saad Bin Zafar and Kaleem Sana ensured USA’s chase wasn’t easy.
