Team India’s young all-rounder Hardik Pandya was floored after an incredibly fierce shot from the bat of Bhuvneshwar Kumar during the second ODI between India and Australia at Eden Gardens on Thursday.
The impact of the shot was such that Pandya stayed on the ground for a few minutes before being able to continue playing. As soon as the ball struck his helmet, the surrounding Aussie players, the umpires and the medical team rushed to see if he was ok.
In a post-match interview for bcci.tv with Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar revealed what was going through his mind seeing Pandya fall flat on the pitch after the ball hit latter’s helmet.
“I checked my bat just to reconfirm that it was indeed me who struck the ball with so much power,” Bhuvi said.
“When he got hit, we were all worried. It looked like a serious blow, but thankfully he was alright. Once he was back on his feet, we began planning about building a partnership,” he added.
A brilliant opening spell from Bhuvneshwar and a terrific hat-trick from Kuldeep helped India beat Australia by 50 runs in Kolkata.
