A 14-year-old boy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has etched his name in cricket history books as the youngest Indian Premier League (IPL) centurion, smashing a 35-ball ton for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Gujarat Titans (GT) on 28 April 2025. The innings defied the odds when Suryavanshi took big bowling names to cleaners. Cricketing arenas around the globe stood up and applauded this masterful innings, acknowledging the young cricketer’s incredible achievement.
Hailing from Tajpur village in Bihar’s Samastipur district, Vaibhav’s meteoric rise is a testament to his talent and the immense sacrifices made by his family to nurture his cricketing dreams.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi opens up about his family’s hardships
The road to Vaibhav’s success was built on his parents’ unwavering support. His mother’s early morning tussle and his father’s dedication to his cricketing development, all have been instrumental in his progress. He also stated that all the credits for his success go to his parents and hard work always pays-off.
“Wherever I’m today only because of my parents. My mother used to sleep for only 3 hours so that she can prepare food for me in the morning. My father left his work for me and my elder brother is handling it now. My father always backed me saying you will do it, you will do it. God watches everything and ensures that those who work hard never fail.” said Vaibhav in a video posted by IPL on X.

In Match 47 of the IPL 2025, the Gujarat amassed a formidable total of 209 runs, thanks to a stellar innings of captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. In response, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal unleashed a blistering assault on the GT bowlers. Vaibhav was unstoppable, taking veteran Ishant Sharma for 28 runs in the fourth over and later tormenting every single bowler of the visitors with his aggressive strokeplay. He brought up his century in just 35 deliveries, sending the Rajasthan’s dugout into raptures.
