When one talks about the world’s toughest leagues, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, undoubtedly tops the list. Over its 18-year history, this thrilling tournament has showcased the talents of the best players from the globe. Whether it’s explosive batting, skillful bowling or athletic fielding, the IPL has witnessed some breathtaking performances. Two of the IPL’s most prominent teams, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) have shared several players who left indelible marks on both franchises. Today, let’s explore the players who have represented both these franchises in IPL.

Here’s the list of players who have represented both MI and GT:

1. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is arguably the most prominent name on this list, having played pivotal roles for both MI and GT. Pandya began his IPL journey with Mumbai in 2015, quickly establishing himself as a dynamic all-rounder. Over seven seasons with MI (2015–2021), he scored 1,476 runs at a strike rate of over 150 and took 42 wickets, contributing to four IPL titles (2015, 2017, 2019, 2020). His ability to finish games with the bat and bowl crucial overs made him a fan favorite.

In 2022, Pandya was signed by the newly formed GT as their captain. Under his leadership, GT clinched the IPL title in their debut season. Pandya led from the front, scoring 487 runs at a strike rate of 131 and taking 8 wickets. His composed innings in the final against Rajasthan Royals (RR) was instrumental in GT’s victory. In 2023, he guided GT to the final again, though they fell short. Pandya returned to MI in 2024 as captain, replacing Rohit Sharma, and continued to be a key figure till now.

2. Gerald Coetzee

Gerald Coetzee, the fiery South African pacer is a recent addition to the MI-GT crossover list. Coetzee was signed by Mumbai for the 2024 season, where he played 10 matches, taking 13 wickets at an economy of 10.17. His raw pace and ability to bowl yorkers in the death overs added a new dimension to MI’s bowling attack, though consistency eluded him at times. Despite MI’s disappointing season, Coetzee’s potential was evident. In 2025, GT acquired Coetzee at the IPL auction, banking on his ability to spearhead their pace attack. His aggressive bowling style and knack for picking wickets in crucial moments align well with GT’s strategy of building a robust bowling unit. Coetzee’s transition from MI to GT underscores his growing reputation as a T20 specialist.

Jos Buttler, the England white-ball maestro, is another prominent name in the list. Buttler has been synonymous with Rajasthan Royals, but he was briefly associated with Mumbai in 2016 and 2017. During his MI stint, he played 24 matches, scoring 527 runs at a strike rate of around 142, often playing as a middle-order finisher. His time with MI was overshadowed by the team’s established top order, limiting his impact.

In 2025, GT signed Buttler for a whopping INR 15.75 crore and every penny has turned out to be fruitful till now. He has been part of their explosive top three. So far in 10 games, Buttler has scored 470 runs with a massive strike rate of 169. Buttler can trouble any bowling lineup of the world with his strong bottom hand and blistering stroke.

In 2023 playing for MI Arshad took 5 wickets in six matches with an economy of more than 13. In 2025, he is witnessing a better season than the last one. For GT, he has taken 3 wickets in 6 matches and his economy came down to just 10.36. The transition of Arshad from MI to GT showcases his future potential to be a pace spearhead.
