Rohit Sharma creates a new ODI record

India defeated Australia in the 5th and the final ODI of the 5-match bilateral series held by 7 wickets on October 1. After losing the previous game in Bangalore, Team India made a solid comeback at the VCA stadium, Nagpur and ended the series with 4-1. Thanks to Rohit Sharma‘s 14th career ODI hundred which carried the Indian innings till the end.

With this victory, Virat Kohli & Co. not only won the sixth consecutive bilateral ODI series but has also dethroned South Africa from the number 1 position in the ICC ODI rankings and is ruling the world.

Rohit Sharma scored his 2000th ODI run on Sunday in India, the fastest Indian batsman to do so. He took 42 innings to reach the landmark, overtaking Sourav Ganguly‘s previous record of 45 innings.
