Former New Zealand cricketer and popular commentator, Danny Morrison known for his lively presence on camera, recently sparked buzz with his top-three picks in a fan-favorite segment. Renowned for blending insight with playful energy, his unique choices once again showcased his knack for keeping cricket conversations both engaging and entertaining.
Danny Morrison selects IPL stars as Bollywood villains
On a recent episode of an ESPNcricinfo show, former pacer Morrison brought his trademark humor and flair to a quirky segment — picking his Top 3 IPL Players as Bollywood villains. Known for his lively personality, Morrison didn’t disappoint with his amusing and imaginative choices.
First up was former Indian spinner Murali Kartik, whom Morrison jokingly picked for their shared bald look, suggesting he’d fit perfectly as a dramatic on-screen villain. Next, he chose Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga, citing his wild, iconic hairstyle as the perfect match. Rounding out his list was none other than Virat Kohli, which Morrison quipped would make them a “charming villain” on the big screen.
“I’ll go with Murali Karthik, same haircut, so he just slips into sort of a dinzompa, doesn’t he? Villains. Lasith Malinga? Yeah, let’s go with Lasith Malinga with that hair and everything. And a batter I will pay. We love you to pieces. Virat Kohli” Morrison replied.

Morrison on players with dashing hairstyles
Morrison didn’t stop there. In another fun segment, he picked his Top 3 wicketkeepers based on hairstyle. The list included the ever-stylish KL Rahul, known for his sleek looks, former India captain MS Dhoni, whose long hair became iconic in his early days, and New Zealand’s own Tony Blain, remembered for his unique and retro hairstyle.
Meanwhile, Morrison also shared his Top 3 players he would like to have a beer with, selecting Daren Ganga, Tom Moody, and the legendary Dennis Lillee — reflecting the camaraderie and respect he holds for fellow cricketers across generations.
“On hair? Yeah. I’m going with K.O. Rahul. I’m going with M.S. Dhoni, back in the day, different times and Tony Alston Blaine, back in a different time and a different century. Top three players to get a beer with, I would go with Darren Ganga. Tom Moody, good old moves. You’ve got a big birthday coming up, haven’t you? Soon too. What about the great Dennis Lilley” added Morrison.
