During the IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), a lookalike of CSK skipper became the center of attention at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The match, while lacking in playoff significance, took a backseat as fans and cameras fixated on a spectator who bore an uncanny resemblance to the legendary MS Dhoni.
MS Dhoni’s doppelganger creates buzz
Clad in a yellow jersey and sporting Dhoni’s trademark hairstyle and beard, the doppelganger’s presence sparked a social media frenzy. Spectators erupted with chants of “Dhoni! Dhoni!” every time he appeared on the big screen. Broadcasters and commentators, too, couldn’t resist making light-hearted remarks about the striking resemblance.
Former Indian cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu, known for his distinctive style, humorously referred to the Dhoni’s lookalike as “an imposter.” He joked that the two must have been separated at a fair and that an FIR should be registered for the confusion.
He said “aree bhaiya ye kaun aa gaya duplicate, are bhaiya mele me ghum ho gaya tha kya ye? itni milti hui shakal to nhi dekhi maine. Are behrupia hai bhaiya FIR likhao (who is this duplicate, was he lost in the fair? I have never seen such a similar face. he is an impersonator, register an FIR”)
