A raucous crowd at Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed Heinrich Klaasen at his explosive best on Saturday night as the South African batter delivered a whirlwind century, lighting up the IPL 2025 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Promoted to No. 3, Klaasen seized the moment, hammering an unbeaten 105 off just 39 deliveries, including 7 fours and 9 sixes, and etched his name into the IPL record books.

Klaasen reached the three-figure mark in just 37 balls, equalling Yusuf Pathan‘s record for the third-fastest century in IPL history. The milestone came on the last ball of the 19th over, as he pulled an off-speed short delivery from Vaibhav Arora through midwicket for two easy runs.

He immediately removed his helmet, looked skyward, and raised his bat as the crowd in Delhi erupted in appreciation. It was Klaasen’s second IPL century, but arguably his most brutal and dominant innings yet.

No mercy for KKR bowlers

From the moment Klaasen stepped onto the field, there was no let-up. He took the attack to every KKR bowler, showcasing his wide array of strokes—pulls, sweeps, lofted drives, and his signature power through midwicket. The South African’s sheer dominance made it nearly impossible for KKR to find any rhythm with the ball.

Complementing Klaasen’s onslaught, Travis Head provided a solid platform at the top with an aggressive 76 off 40 balls, which included 6 fours and 6 sixes. Together, they helped SRH pile on a monstrous 278/3 in their 20 overs, one of the highest totals in IPL history.
