West Indies delivered a commanding performance in the third One Day International (ODI) against Ireland at The Village, Malahide, securing a resounding 197-run victory (DLS method) to level the three-match series 1-1. The visitors posted a colossal total of 385/7, primarily fuelled by a sensational century from Keacy Carty, before their bowlers dismantled the Irish batting lineup.
West Indies post mammoth total driven by Keacy Carty’s heroics
After Ireland won the toss and elected to bowl, West Indies unleashed an aggressive batting display. Despite early setbacks, including the quick dismissals of Brandon King (1) and Evin Lewis (14), Keacy Carty stepped up to play an innings of a lifetime. He scored an outstanding 170 runs off just 142 deliveries, a knock studded with 15 fours and 8 sixes, dominating the Irish bowling attack. Carty found excellent support from captain Shai Hope, who contributed a fluent 75 runs off 75 balls, hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes. Towards the death, Justin Greaves provided a breathtaking flourish, smashing 50 runs off a mere 23 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes, propelling West Indies to their daunting total.

For Ireland, Barry McCarthy was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets, though he conceded 100 runs in his 10 overs. Liam McCarthy also chipped in with 2 wickets.
Ireland’s chase falters under pressure
Faced with a revised DLS target after a rain interruption, Ireland’s chase of 363 (from 46 overs) got off to a disastrous start and never recovered. Openers Andy Balbirnie (3) and Paul Stirling (26) fell cheaply, setting a difficult tone. While Cade Carmichael showed some resistance with a valiant 48 runs off 61 balls, and Lorcan Tucker (29) and Andy McBrine (28) made contributions, the required run rate proved insurmountable. The Irish innings folded for just 165 runs in 29.5 overs, a stark contrast to West Indies’ monumental total.
West Indies’ bowlers were clinical in their execution, with Jayden Seales leading the charge, picking up 3 wickets for just 26 runs from 5.5 overs. Alzarri Joseph, Justin Greaves and Roston Chase each secured a wicket, applying consistent pressure throughout the innings.
