England Women secured a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over West Indies Women in the third and final One-Day International, completing a dominant 3-0 clean sweep in the West Indies Women’s tour of England 2025.
West Indies innings: A struggle for momentum
Having won the toss, England Women elected to bowl first on a pitch that offered assistance to their bowlers. The decision proved to be an excellent one as the West Indies Women struggled to build any significant partnerships. Despite a resilient 34 from opener Qiana Joseph and a late cameo of 27 from Aaliyah Alleyne, supported by a quickfire 11 from Jahzara Claxton at the very end, the West Indies innings never truly took off. They were restricted to 106/8 in their allotted 21 overs (due to a DLS method adjustment).
The English bowlers were disciplined and effective throughout. Left-arm spinner, Sarah Glenn, was the pick of the bowlers, claiming an impressive 3 wickets for just 21 runs from her 4 overs. She was well supported by Emily Arlott (2/15) and Kate Cross (1/15), who kept the pressure on from the outset. Charlotte Dean and Lauren Filer also chipped in with a wicket each, ensuring no West Indian batter could settle.
England’s clinical chase
In response, England Women made light work of the target, chasing it down with 9 wickets in hand and overs to spare. Despite the early departure of Sophia Dunkley for a quick 26, the chase was spearheaded by a superb unbeaten half-century from Natalie Sciver, who blazed her way to 57 runs off just 33 deliveries, adorned with 9 fours. Alice Capsey provided excellent support with a brisk 20 runs off 11 balls, ensuring England reached their target of 109 in just 10.5 overs.
The West Indies bowlers found it tough going against the aggressive English batting lineup. Karishma Ramharack was the only wicket-taker for the visitors, claiming 1 wicket for 31 runs.
This victory not only seals the series whitewash for England Women but also highlights their all-round strength and dominance throughout the series, having previously won the first ODI by 108 runs and the second by 143 runs.
