In a much-anticipated signing, the Big Bash League (BBL) has welcomed another global star ahead of the 2025–26 season. A premium Pakistani pace sensation has officially joined the Brisbane Heat, sending bunch of excitement through the cricketing fans. Known for his fiery spells and ability to swing the ball at pace, the newcomer is expected to strengthen the Heat’s bowling attack and bring a new edge to their title ambitions.

Two-time title holders Brisbane Heat have officially signed Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi, adding more firepower to an already formidable squad. In a recent announcement, the franchise confirmed the arrival of their number one pick, Afridi, nicknamed ‘The Eagle’, who will don the iconic jersey for the first time as they gear up for the upcoming KFC Big Bash League season.

“The Eagle has landed. Nicknamed ‘The Eagle’, was taken by the Heat with their coveted first pick of today’s International Player Draft held in Melbourne. Afridi will play in the BBL for the first time and joins the club’s former Pakistan recruits such as Shadab Khan, Yasir Shah and Fakhar Zaman to sign with the Heat.” the franchise stated.

Pace star shares his excitement for first BBL opportunity

Meanwhile, Shaheen has also shared his excitement about joining the team. In a video statement, expressed his excitement about joining Brisbane Heat for his first Big Bash season, calling the opportunity to bowl at the Gabba something special. He also shared his eagerness to meet Heat fans this summer and thanked everyone for the warm welcome.

“Hello everyone, I’m excited to join Brisbane Heat for my first Big Bash season. Bowling ay Gabba is always special. Looking forward to meet all the Heat fans this summer. See you all thank you,” Shaheen said.

Shaheen has featured in 222 T20 matches so far, taking 310 wickets at an average of 20.99 and an economy rate of 7.95. Earlier this year, he guided the Lahore Qalandars to the 2025 Pakistan Super League title under his leadership.
