During the clash between Seattle Orcas (SEA) and the San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) in Major Cricket League (MLC) 2025, where the latter secured a comfortable win, a moment of comeback by Pakistani pace sensation Haris Rauf had the spectators on their feet. With the win, SFU became the first team this season to secure a playoff berth.

Haris Rauf gets revenge against Gerald Coetzee as stumps shatters in dramatic moment

The moment unfolded in the 16th over of the second innings, with SEA chasing a formidable target of 177 runs. Proteas pacer Gerald Coetzee, known for his six-hitting ability lower down the order, struck a stunning six off Rauf. It was a fuller delivery on middle and leg stump — Coetzee made room and lofted it effortlessly over the long-off region with exquisite timing, clearing the fence with ease.

However, the moment of brilliance came in the very next delivery when Rauf got his revenge. He delivered a fiery 145 kmph ball, angling in towards the stumps. Coetzee, attempting to replicate his earlier shot, was completely beaten for pace and missed it entirely. The ball crashed the off stump stump sending Rauf pumped. It was that moment that ended the hopes of Seattle completely.

San Francisco Unicorns storm into playoffs with sixth straight win

After winning the toss, the winless Seattle chose to bowl first against the undefeated San Francisco in Dallas. SFU got off to a strong start, with opener Matthew Short scoring a brilliant half-century, supported by Jake Fraser-McGurk’s crisp 34-run knock. Later, a handy contribution from West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who smashed 56 runs off just 31 balls, helped SFU post a total of over 170 runs.

In reply, Seattle once again put up a dismal batting display, with their middle order collapsing under pressure. Apart from Shayan Jahangir and Shimron Hetmyer, no other batter managed to cross the 30-run mark. With the ball, Rauf led the charge for SFU taking a brilliant four-wicket haul, well supported by Shepherd and Short, helping their side win by 32 runs. With six wins in six matches, the San Francisco have now officially booked their spot in the playoffs.
