Indian star batter and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav recently shared a life update on social media. While the Indian team is currently engaged in a long and challenging red-ball tour of England, Suryakumar underwent a crucial and successful surgery for a sports hernia — a condition that typically affects the core muscles, especially in the lower abdomen region. With India’s packed white-ball calendar ahead, including key bilateral series his recovery will be vital to the team’s plans and balance in the shorter formats.

Suryakumar shared a life update on Instagram, revealing that he recently underwent surgery for a sports hernia in his lower right abdomen, a condition affecting core muscles. He expressed gratitude for the smooth procedure and confirmed that he is already on the road to recovery and expresses eagerness to return to action.

“Life Update : Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I’m already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back” Suryakumar posted an Instagram picture of himself on a hospital bed in Germany.

India’s busy T20 season ahead in 2025

Suryakumar Yadav was last seen in action Mumbai T20 league with he was a part of Triumph Knights Mumbai North East. Before that he delivered a sensational season with the bat for Mumbai Indians. In 16 matches, he amassed 717 runs at an impressive average of 65, including five half-centuries. His team eventually finished third in the league.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old took over as India’s T20I captain following the team’s triumphant campaign at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Since then, he has led the side to several record-breaking and memorable series victories. Later this year, Team India, under Suryakumar’s leadership, is scheduled to play 13 T20 Internationals—both at home and away—against Bangladesh, Australia, and South Africa. These matches form a crucial part of India’s preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
