Pathum Nissanka continued his golden run with the bat as he brought up a magnificent century on Day 2 of the second Test against Bangladesh at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The right-handed opener reached the three-figure mark in style, dispatching a Nahid Rana delivery to the boundary on the fourth ball of the 58th over. With that, he removed his helmet and raised his arms in triumph, acknowledging the raucous home crowd.

Just days after registering a century in the first Test at Galle, Nissanka has once again proven why he’s becoming Sri Lanka’s most reliable batter in the red-ball format. The hundred was brought up off a back-of-a-length ball at 143 kph, which Nissanka masterfully punched past point for four.

As soon as the ball raced to the boundary, the Colombo crowd erupted in joy, celebrating what was another high-quality performance from the 26-year-old. Sri Lanka reply strong after bowling out Bangladesh

Resuming from an overnight score of 220/8, Bangladesh managed to add only 27 runs to their total on the second morning before being bowled out for 247. The Sri Lankan bowlers wrapped up the tail quickly, maintaining their control over the match.

In reply, Sri Lanka made a strong start, and by the 61-over mark, had piled up 216/1 — with Nissanka’s century forming the backbone of their innings. The hosts are well placed to secure a commanding first-innings lead.
