The Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 final turned out to be a pulsating encounter as MI New York held their nerve to defeat Washington Freedom by just 5 runs and lift the coveted trophy. The clash, played in front of a packed crowd, had everything — blistering batting, quality pace bowling, and a moment of brilliance in the field from none other than Kieron Pollard.
Kieron Pollard’s juggling act stuns fans in MLC 2025 final
In the very first over of Washington Freedom’s chase, fans were treated to an extraordinary piece of fielding brilliance by Pollard. On the fifth delivery bowled by Trent Boult, Andries Gous attempted a drive but ended up mistiming it horribly. What followed was pure drama.
Pollard, stationed at mid-on, had to run back and settle under the high ball. What seemed like a straightforward catch quickly turned into a juggling act as Pollard fumbled the ball three times — off his hands, shoulder, and chest — before finally securing it on the fourth attempt. The MI New York skipper let out a loud roar, clearly relieved and elated by pulling off what could have been a costly miss.

MI New York hold their nerve in last-over thriller
Earlier, MI New York posted a competitive 180/7, thanks to a blazing 77 off 46 balls from Quinton de Kock. Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers for Washington, finishing with excellent figures of 3 for 21. Washington Freedom fought hard in the chase, with Rachin Ravindra scoring a valiant 70 off 41 deliveries, but they eventually fell short by 5 runs. Boult and Rushil Ugarkar also chipped in with two wickets apiece in a final that kept fans on the edge of their seats till the last ball.
