India laid the perfect platform for a thrilling win against Sri Lanka with Virat Kohli scoring his 50th international century before Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami rocked the Sri Lanka batting line-up and pushed for a victory in the first Test at the Eden Gardens.
But bad light, intentional delays by Sri Lankan batsmen and time consumed in DRS reviews made sure that the Test ends in a draw leaving Sri Lanka at 75 for 7.
After India declared their second innings for 352 for the loss of eight wickets, in the seven overs before Tea, Bhuvi and Shami picked a wicket each to push Sri Lanka back.
In the final session, Indian bowlers picked up five more wickets and raised the hopes of the home team for a win. And it was then when umpires told both the teams that light was no longer good to play.
On the final day, Indian fans got to see some brilliant bowling from Bhuvi who picked up 4 wickets in the Sri Lankan second innings giving away only 8 runs. In process, the swing master bowled an absolute peach to send the stump cartwheeling of Dilruwan Perera.
The batsman tried to play a defensive shot but was outfoxed by Bhuvi’s brilliance.
