India‘s dramatic six-run victory over England at The Oval in the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy not only leveled the series 2-2 but also had a significant impact on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table.

India climbs, England slips in a tightly contested WTC 2025-27 points table

With 12 crucial points from the win, India’s campaign is now on solid ground, but they are not the only team making their mark in the early stages of the competition. The thrilling win at The Oval propelled India to third place in the WTC standings, giving them a significant boost in the race for a spot in the 2027 final. India now has 28 points from five matches, with a Points Percentage (PCT) of 46.67%. This position comes at the expense of England, who slipped to fourth place. Despite having a similar record of two wins and two losses, England’s PCT of 43.33% is slightly lower due to a two-point deduction for a slow over-rate earlier in the series. This penalty serves as a powerful reminder of how every detail, on and off the field, can influence a team’s fate in the WTC.

A look at other teams in the WTC 2025-27 standings

While the India-England series captured the cricket world’s attention, other teams have also been quietly building their campaigns. At the top of the table sits Australia, with a commanding and perfect 100% PCT. Australia’s dominant start came from a 3-0 clean sweep of the West Indies in the Frank Worrell Trophy. This unblemished record puts them in a prime position to challenge for another WTC final. In second place is Sri Lanka, who have a strong PCT of 66.67% from two matches. Their impressive start includes a home series win against Bangladesh, a result that has put them in a great position early in the cycle.

Bangladesh finds themselves in fifth place, with just one loss and one draw from their two matches, giving them a PCT of 16.67%. Meanwhile, the West Indies are yet to get off the mark, sitting in sixth place with a PCT of 0% after losing all three of their matches to Australia. The WTC 2025-27 is still in its early stages, and with teams like New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa yet to play a match in the cycle, the points table is expected to see many more twists and turns as the competition heats up. The race for the top two spots promises to be an intense one over the next two years.
