In a dazzling all-round display at Headingley, Georgia Wareham propelled Northern Superchargers to a resounding 47-run victory over Welsh Fire in the third match of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2025. Wareham, the dynamic Australian international, delivered with both bat and ball in what proved to be a statement performance for the Superchargers and a warning shot to the rest of the tournament field.
Georgia Wareham’s impact with the bat
Batting first after winning the toss, the Superchargers constructed a formidable total of 141-4 from their 100 balls. The innings started solidly but gained serious momentum during the final stretch courtesy of Wareham’s late fireworks. Coming in during a tricky phase, she not only stabilized the innings but accelerated the scoring—with a brisk, unbeaten 29 off 17 balls, featuring three boundaries and a six. Her assertive strokeplay came at a crucial juncture, sharing an unbroken partnership of 52 runs with skipper Hollie Armitage (34 not out), ensuring Northern Superchargers finished with a flourish.

Annabel Sutherland also contributed a useful 28 and provided good support during the crucial middle overs, but it was Wareham’s fearless batting against a disciplined Welsh Fire attack, which included Hayley Matthews (2-18), that changed the complexion of the contest.
Wareham’s bowling brilliance seals the victory for Northern Superchargers
If Wareham’s batting had left Welsh Fire reeling, her bowling completely shut the door. She claimed 2-19 from her quota, providing vital breakthroughs at critical stages. The Superchargers bowling unit struck early, with Sophia Dunkley and Hayley Matthews—key Fire batters—dismissed with the score still in single figures, pushing Welsh Fire onto the back foot from the get-go.
Wareham then delivered a clever spell, removing both Jess Jonassen and Katie George, while also playing a hand in two run outs. Her discipline and variation kept the stumps in play, with support from spinners Linsey Smith and Grace Ballinger, both of whom took two wickets each to ensure Welsh Fire were bowled out for just 94 in front of a buoyant Leeds crowd.

Tammy Beaumont was the lone Fire batter to pose any real threat, top-scoring with 36. But consistent Superchargers pressure led to regular wickets, and Welsh Fire never seriously threatened the target.

Player of the Match
A delighted Georgia Wareham was named the Meerkat Match Hero and she reflected on the team’s cohesion: “It felt like a really good hit out for the girls; we were clinical in all facets, which showed up on the scoreboard for us… With the ball, we wanted to keep the stumps in play as much as we possibly could. The change of pace worked really well for Welsh Fire so we took that into play for us, as well, and as it showed we hit the stumps as often as we could.”
