In a historic moment during Match 15 of The Hundred 2025, Lauren Bell etched her name in the record books with a remarkable performance. Playing for the Trent Rockets Women against Southern Brave Women at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, Bell claimed the crucial wicket of Ashleigh Gardner, achieving the crucial milestone in the tournament history.

Lauren Bell’s historic wicket in The Hundred and fall of Ashleigh Gardener

It was a moment of celebration for Bell, as she sent Gardner packing for 25 runs off 16 balls, with four boundaries and a strike rate of 156.25. The delivery that secured the wicket was a perfect display of Bell’s skill. She bowled a full-length ball on middle stump, with a wobble seam that nipped back into Gardner. The batter, attempting to make contact with a wild swing, failed to account for the slight inward movement. The ball passed through the gap between bat and pad, knocking back the leg stump and producing the unmistakable sound of stumps falling. Bell, in full roar, celebrated the wicket, marking a defining moment not just for her career but also for women’s cricket in The Hundred. This dismissal marked her 50th wicket in The Hundred. This milestone made her the first player, male or female, to reach 50 wickets in the competition’s history.

With this breakthrough, the Trent Rockets found themselves in control, reducing the Brave to 55/7. Bell’s exceptional bowling performance, 2 wickets for just 13 runs off 13 balls, left the opposition reeling, as the Rockets closed in on a victory. This feat further solidified Bell’s position as one of the premier bowlers in the competition.
