Indian team skipper Virat Kohli tied the nuptial knot with his long-term girlfriend Anushka Sharma on December 11.
The celebrity couple opted for a very private wedding ceremony in Italy which was attended by close to forty people.
In an interview to the BBC, Devika Narain, the wedding planner of Virushka’s wedding, spilled beans on the entire event.
“Anushka and Virat are extremely spiritual people. I don’t know how many people know this thing about them. She wanted everything to be about growth and prosperity and So the whole wedding was inspired by the idea of an overgrown garden. They are a big fan of rumi and his poetry. An anthrology of his poems was given as a take back present for all the guests,” said Devika.
While there were several speculations about Virushka’s wedding, Devika revealed how tough was it for her team to keep it a secret.
“It was so tough. I remember when we were planning the wedding and we knew who was getting married, we wouldn’t even take their names. For the first time I met them, I couldn’t say Anushka to her face and I kept calling her bride. She was like what was wrong with me. I told her we condition ourselves not to take your name because we have to keep it a secret,” she added.
While speaking about the sort of a ceremony Anushka wanted, Devika revealed to the interviewer, “Anushka is a typical bride and I did not expect her to be one. She had reference photos and was invested in every decision. All of this was her idea and we just planned it all.”
After returning from their honeymoon, Virat and Anushka will first host a reception in New Delhi for their relatives on December 21, followed by another grand celebration in Mumbai on December 26 for cricketers and Bollywood stars.
