Cricket fans often talk about batting and bowling heroics, but sometimes it’s a piece of fielding brilliance that takes the spotlight. That’s exactly what happened when Akshay TK produced a jaw-dropping run out in the 4th over of Trivandrum Royals’ innings.

Krishna Prasad, the Royals’ skipper, nudged the ball towards backward point and set off for a quick single. At the non-striker’s end, Govind Dev Pai sprinted hard, but Akshay had other plans. With lightning reflexes, he dived forward, collected the ball cleanly, and unleashed a direct hit that left Govind inches short of the crease. The crowd roared, and social media lit up instantly – a reminder of how fielding brilliance can shift the mood of a match.

Royals post a fighting total

Earlier in the evening, the Royals showcased solid batting.Prasad played a captain’s knock of 67 off 53 balls, mixing caution with aggression. He was well supported by Nikhil M, who struck a handy 43 off 31. Their partnership laid a strong platform, but the Ripples bowlers kept things under control, especially in the death overs. Aadithya Baiju stood out with his tidy spell of 2/28, restricting the Royals to 178/5 in 20 overs.

Mohammed Kaif guides Ripples to victory

The chase wasn’t straightforward for the Ripples, as wickets fell regularly. But Mohammed Kaif showed nerves of steel. Playing with maturity beyond his years, he anchored the innings with an unbeaten 66, ensuring his side stayed in the hunt. Despite Basil Thampi’s 2/34 giving the Royals hope, Kaif’s calm presence carried the Ripples home in the penultimate over. They finished at 180/7 in 19.4 overs, sealing a hard-fought three-wicket win.
