The final league clash of The Hundred 2025 at Headingley, Leeds, saw Manchester Originals produce a commanding all-round performance to beat Northern Superchargers by seven wickets. While Manchester’s batting power sealed the result, it was Jos Buttler‘s stunning catch behind the stumps that became the talking point of the evening.

Jos Buttler’s sharp catch removes Michael Pepper

Northern Superchargers, sent in to bat first after Manchester elected to bowl, had a rocky start. The defining moment of the innings came when Thomas Aspinwall delivered a full ball outside off to Michael Pepper. Looking to drive expansively, Pepper ended up edging the ball thickly. Buttler, alert as ever, flung himself low to his right, clutching onto a sensational diving catch. The Headingley crowd erupted, and replays showed just how quick Buttler’s reflexes were. That dismissal not only sent Pepper back but also lifted Manchester’s intensity in the field.

Despite a fiery cameo from veteran Samit Patel, who blasted 42 off just 19 deliveries, the Superchargers failed to put up a challenging total. Aspinwall’s 3/17 and Josh Tongue‘s 2/26 ensured wickets kept falling at regular intervals, restricting them to 139/8 in their 100 balls.

Chasing 140, Manchester Originals looked in control right from the outset. Buttler himself led the charge with a blistering knock of 70 runs off just 37 balls, peppered with boundaries that dismantled the Superchargers’ bowling attack. He found solid support from Rachin Ravindra, who finished unbeaten on 47 from 23 balls. The pair’s partnership ensured Manchester crossed the finish line comfortably in just 84 deliveries, sealing a seven-wicket victory.
