Romario Shepherd’s spectacular diving catch stuns fans
The drama unfolded in the 16th over, where Gudakesh Motie’s only plan was to halt Tim David’s charge. David, who was already on 25 from just 15 balls, was a clear threat. Motie delivered a full toss down the leg side, and David tried to clear the ropes, only to get a top edge. It was then that Shepherd came to the rescue. Sprinting in from backward square leg, he dove forward to complete a brilliant catch, sending a frustrated David back to the pavilion. Despite this crucial wicket and some spirited fielding, the Guyana Amazon Warriors couldn’t defend their total in the end.

Saint Lucia Kings outclass Guyana Amazon Warriors in high-scoring CPL thriller
Meanwhile, the Warriors posted a formidable total of 202/6, thanks to a sensational 73 from their power-hitting all-rounder Shepherd. He was supported by a quickfire 30 from Ben McDermott and a late cameo of 18 from Dwaine Pretorius. The Warriors’ innings, however, started shakily, losing four early wickets for just 47 runs. Keon Gaston was the pick of the bowlers for the home side taking two crucial wickets.
In response, the Kings chased down the target with four wickets and 11 balls to spare. Their chase was powered by a stunning 73 from Ackeem Auguste off just 35 balls, including six fours and four sixes. He found great support from Tim Seifert, who scored 37. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Kings’ aggressive batting ensured they stayed ahead of the required run rate. Jediah Blades and Motie were the most successful bowlers for the Warriors, taking two wickets apiece, but ultimately couldn’t stop the Kings’ charge.
