In response, the franchise has swiftly secured replacements in the form of Dane van Niekerk (South Africa), Molly Penfold (New Zealand) and Amy Hunter (Ireland). The additions bring a fresh mix of international experience, youth, and versatility to the side ahead of the high-stakes tournament.

Former South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk is the headline signing. Renowned for her leadership qualities and consistency as an all-rounder, van Niekerk provides a strong middle-order batting option while also chipping in effectively with her leg-spin. Her vast international experience and ability to perform under pressure make her a valuable replacement who can guide younger players in crunch moments. For a team eyeing its first WCPL title, van Niekerk’s inclusion could prove a defining factor.

The Warriors have also added Molly Penfold, a promising fast bowler from New Zealand. Known for her sharp pace and ability to extract bounce, Penfold bolsters Guyana’s seam attack in the absence of the legendary Shabnim Ismail. Her fresh energy and attacking style provide captaincy options in powerplay and death overs, ensuring the Warriors maintain balance in their bowling unit.

At just 19, Amy Hunter of Ireland has already made headlines with her mature batting displays and sharp wicketkeeping skills. She brings stability to the middle order while also enhancing agility behind the stumps. Hunter’s ability to rotate strike and accelerate when required will give the Warriors much-needed flexibility in crunch phases of matches. Her selection signals the franchise’s faith in grooming young, world-class talent.

With a strong domestic and international core, Guyana now looks well-prepared to challenge for the WCPL crown.

The Warriors will open their campaign on September 6 against Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), a fixture expected to set the tone for their season.
