South Africa hold firm to seal victory

Despite Brook’s brilliance and England’s early wickets, South Africa’s middle order fired back strongly. Skipper Aiden Markram (28 off 14) provided the initial spark, while young star Dewald Brevis (23 off 10) and Donovan Ferreira (25 off 11) unleashed a flurry of sixes to lift their side to 97/5 in 7.5 overs before rain intervened once again.

After the break, England were handed a revised target of 69 runs from 5 overs. The chase began disastrously as Kagiso Rabada removed Phil Salt first ball. Jos Buttler (25 off 11) played a captain’s knock with three sixes, but wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch delivered under pressure, restricting England to 54/5, sealing a memorable 14-run win for the Proteas.
