One of the most loved and successful teams in the IPL history is all set to make their comeback after the ban of two years and their retentions have already impressed cricket fans. Where other franchisees were more inclined to experiments, Chennai Super Kings have straightaway took some strong decisions and made the most of the retentions.
The “Thalaiva of CSK” and India’s most successful captain of all time Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mr. IPL Suresh Raina were the prime picks for CSK. With these two, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will also join the “Yellow gang” without any hurdle of the auction.
Now the question is, whom will they buy back with the Right to match card (RTM) in the auction?
CSK have two options left and as they have retained all three Indian capped players, they can use RTM for either two overseas players or two uncapped players or a combination of both. The budget left in the purse for CSK is Rs 47 crores.
Let’s check out the top 2 players which CSK would love to get back with RTM:
1.) Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo aka DJ bravo will be the most probable choice for the franchise and skipper. DJ Bravo is a Carribean all-rounder and a complete package for any team; he can bat in the difficult situation and a go-to man for a captain in the death overs. Along with that, he is an exceptional fielder at any corner of the ground. It will be a shock if CSK ignores him while the RTM use in the auction since he is the specialist of this format and match winner for CSK in past.
2. Brendon McCullum
As Chennai did not have any super impressive uncapped players in their squad, it will be no surprise if they go with two overseas players for the use of RTM card. New Zealand’s former captain and an explosive batsman Brendon McCullum must be leading the race for the RTM. Though he already said goodbye to the international cricket, his performance in the Big Bash League and all other T20 leagues gives him an edge.
