Australia’s Marcus Stoinis was retained by Kings XI Punjab for a hefty amount on the first day of the IPL auction using Right to Match (RTM) card. The all-rounder seemed to have taken that momentum on to the field in Perth during the fifth and final ODI between Australia and England.
After batting first, England scored 259 runs in 47.4 overs, the Aussies team gave a tough fight, but couldn’t make more than 247 runs and lost the series 1-4.
Stoinis goes big
In the ninth over of Australian innings, Stoinis slammed a huge six over long-on at the last ball of Moeen Ali’s over justifying his abilities with the bat. It was a hit that went for 119m going deep into the stands.
The KXIP team management including co-owner Preity Zinta would expect to see more of his such exploits in this year’s IPL as the team banks on the all-rounder’s hard-hitting abilities with the bat in the lower middle order.
