In order to build Kings XI Punjab team from scratch, its franchise had to let go some of their key players from the previous squad.
Ravichandran Ashwin, KL Rahul, Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle are some of the key players who will represent KXIP team in the 11th edition of the cash-rich tournament.
After the IPL auctions which lasted for two days, social media is full of emotional exchange of messages between players and franchise owners.
Nita Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians, said she was disappointed after the three-time IPL winners weren’t able to retain Harbhajan Singh, who was a part of the franchise from the first season.
On similar lines, Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta, who was trolled by Virender Sehwag during IPL auctions for being on a shopping spree, has also named a player whose absence has left her heartbroken.
“The one thing I am heartbroken about it is having to miss out on Sandy (Sandeep Sharma). I was really sad to let him go but I was also excited to see that there was a bidding war for Sandy. This is a great example of somebody who is amazing to work with, who is hard working and he gets rewarded for his hard work. So we might have missed out on him in the Kings XI Punjab squad but eventually, he is the big winner. So congratulations Sandy and I am going to miss you,” she said in a video posted by Kings XI Punjab on Twitter.
Preity Zinta had a special message for Sandeep Sharma who unfortunately won’t be part of the team for the upcoming season. We’re all going to miss you very much Sandy! #LivePunjabiPlayPunjabi pic.twitter.com/dFuVAK7MSj
